“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Practical uses for salt….
1. Prevents fruit from browning (and meat preservative)
2. Exfoliant and Deodorizer
3. Oral care…. (cleans your mouth)
4. Fire Management (puts out a grease fire)
5. Stain Remover (soak blood stains in cold saltwater)
6. Deicer (lowers the freezing point for water)
Think about the uses of salt…. then think about why we are commanded to be salt of the earth… to preserve Gods goodness on this earth…. to help clean up what is dried up and stinks on this earth…. to put purity in the words spoken…. to lead people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ and keep them from hellfire… showing others how their “stains” can be removed…. and helping others to not be so cold toward God, warm up their hearts by showing the love of Jesus… just a few thoughts on salt..
Light….. it is not possible to hide any light in the darkness. You can although dim the light in the dark by covering the light or by turning it down if it is on a dimmer.. We are meant to let our lights shine bright! This world seems to get darker by the day. But have you ever noticed when a room is super dark even the tiniest light seems blinding and it just seems to mess up that darkness. The darker the room, the brighter the light seems to shine. I am asking God to not allow fear or anything make my light dim. I want to shine bright before men so that I can glorify my Father in heaven. I want to mess up the darkness…..
Prayer: Father in Heaven.. You are Holy and Righteous. YOU are THE light of the world and YOU live in me… So God I pray You fill me with Your Spirit and light so that I can shine in this dark world.
