Salt & Light

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Practical uses for salt….
1. Prevents fruit from browning (and meat preservative)
2. Exfoliant and Deodorizer
3. Oral care…. (cleans your mouth)
4. Fire Management (puts out a grease fire)
5. Stain Remover (soak blood stains in cold saltwater)
6. Deicer (lowers the freezing point for water)

Think about the uses of salt…. then think about why we are commanded to be salt of the earth… to preserve Gods goodness on this earth…. to help clean up what is dried up and stinks on this earth…. to put purity in the words spoken…. to lead people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ and keep them from hellfire… showing others how their “stains” can be removed…. and helping others to not be so cold toward God, warm up their hearts by showing the love of Jesus… just a few thoughts on salt..

Light….. it is not possible to hide any light in the darkness. You can although dim the light in the dark by covering the light or by turning it down if it is on a dimmer.. We are meant to let our lights shine bright! This world seems to get darker by the day. But have you ever noticed when a room is super dark even the tiniest light seems blinding and it just seems to mess up that darkness. The darker the room, the brighter the light seems to shine. I am asking God to not allow fear or anything make my light dim. I want to shine bright before men so that I can glorify my Father in heaven. I want to mess up the darkness…..

Prayer: Father in Heaven.. You are Holy and Righteous. YOU are THE light of the world and YOU live in me… So God I pray You fill me with Your Spirit and light so that I can shine in this dark world.

It has been a very long time since I took the time to write. Boy I have learned so much in the last few months. I have always been somewhat of a dreamer and liked to keep my head in the sand and pretend everything was just fine… I no longer believe that is the best way to be. I do not believe God call us to be a pessimist, but He also does not call us to be ignorant or keep our head in the sand. I think He has wanted me to grow up a little in the last couple of years and face reality of life. It gets hard. People hurt you. People disappoint you. But God never does. He is always there for you, He never changes. He is the one stable thing even if everything else is falling apart. I have to learn to accept the fact that I cannot change how people are. I cannot change this world, but I can be the best me. I can strive to be who God wants me to be. I will fail… I will mess up, but I am so very thankful God sees my heart and knows my intentions. Each day I grow to love Him more and appreciate Him.

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:11

God continually amazes me… He has blessed us already thru this business. No, we are not raking in the money (YET :), and to be perfectly honest that is not the purpose of the business. Of course we would like to make money, enough to provide for our family and those that work with us, but I believe we are put in every place for a purpose. We have people placed in our lives so that we can bless them and sometimes we are the ones standing in need of the blessing… I hate to admit it, but lots of times I am the one standing in need! (although it is much easier to be the needed one!)

The people we meet and the partnerships in life we share, is what life is all about. It hurts my heart to see all of the anger spreading like wildfire in our country and world today. With the protests and hatred coming from both sides, it sure is making Satan happy, I am sure. That is where all of this comes from. He feeds on this mess. Its so sad to know how many people are blind to his schemes. How many people are a pawn in his games. I for one pray daily for wisdom so that I do not fall for his lies and become a tool for his evil ways. James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

The way I treat people reflects the love of God in my heart. I know I will answer to Him for my actions and my words. I have certainly not been perfect, but I am trying to learn everyday. That is all we can do. He has blessed me beyond measure in this life, not to mention what He has planned for me in eternity! I cannot even hardly wait! He truly is the perfect gift giver. In His time, He never fails. His gifts come in packages we are not often expecting. They come as people who are kind to us, in work we have been looking for, in a smile from a stranger, peace and joy in our hearts, the feeling we get in our hearts when we are good to someone else, His strength and comfort in hard times. We just need to remain close to Him and keep our eyes focused on Him! Isaiah 40:10 “See, the Lord God comes with strength, and His power establishes His rule. His reward is with Him, and His gifts accompany Him.”

Not a day passes that we do not receive gifts from Him in exactly the ways we need. I pray we open our eyes to see those gifts so that our hearts are blessed and we pass those along to others to remind us all of His presence.

Have a blessed and a peace-filled day.

Why we began our own business

May 7, 2020

Don and I love to ride around and look at homes, old towns, beautiful landscapes, nature….. we just enjoy being together most of all, but also seeing new things. We both enjoy doing yard work, landscaping, flowers, photography and just pretty things in general. We are both very particular in how things are presented and taken care of. Don is an Operations Manager at a Manufacturing Facility locally and I was an Owner Manager at a cabin rental company in Pigeon Forge (until COVID-19 destroyed the economy 😦 ) I missed working with the owners. I really felt empty when I did not have owners to take care of all day, to help them problem solve and to just talk to them about how to update their cabins with minimum investment or adjusting their rates to bring more guests…. I really missed my work! As most of you know, there are cabin rental companies on every corner here (because there are thousands upon thousands of cabins here!) Don and I did not want to step on toes of my old employer and did not want to do what everyone else was doing, but we wanted to run our own company instead of someone else’s! And we wanted to take our interests and abilities and put them to work. We both enjoy managing projects and since we both have backgrounds with owning professional cleaning companies, remodeling, home repair and inspections, we knew this would be our specialty. We knew we could help owners that live away but manage their own reservations… There are so many owners that manage their own cabins now because of the software programs that help them, but they still need trustworthy people at a low cost to be their “local feet on the ground”. Between us and the fantastic cleaning company we knew that was needing work, we can do this! This could be a real need in a busy tourist area! Getting our name out there is the challenge. I knew one owner that was going out on their own that I have been helping for months. He was determined to do this on his own. So thankfully he gave us a chance! check it out, it is gorgeous! Five Bears Den Gatlinburg, TN… One other thing that has been pretty helpful is a picture we took on a drive in Gatlinburg. We were near Five Bears Den and drove by this unsuspecting cabin with 5 bears in the front yard!! as of right now our people reached with this post is at 39,000+!! Unbelievable! I just hope some of these people own a cabin they manage on their own! 🙂 We have other services in mind that we want to offer, but that will come with time I guess. Patience is a virtue! Wisdom comes with work! So we are taking it one step at a time!
